I'm not sure who all remembers when I got this tool holder, but I have had it since Dec 2017 and it has held my tools just like you see them in the picture below. Well, I'm tired of most of the items flopping around and my tool collection has grown so I need more storage, so I started making more parts to 3D print lol.
This is what I have come up with so far and it's on the printer doing it's thing. Hopefully the sizes are right lol. Printing this one out of PETG that I had. The bag had a hole in it, but the finish so far is better than expected. For those that don't know, PETG is hygroscopic meaning it will absorb moisture from the air and cause popping or finish imperfections, but so far, it's doing great. This is a very up close photo from the video in the slicer, so it makes it look worse than it is.
First iteration and the three on the bottom with the slot are still too small on the ID and I have adjusted the size multiple times, leading me to think it's the rear wall thickness that is causing the issue. So I enlarged the hole another 1/2 mm and moved the hole to the center by a 1/4 mm. Also, the hole on the right side of the read block I forgot to resize to the small allen driver as I had copied it from the far left hole that is for a turnbuckle wrench. And finally, the slot on the left side of the red block was perfect, if I was measuring center to center for the width, but I was not, I needed end to end lol. So it's about 12.5mm too wide lol. I also did not adjust the depth so the bits for the Align driver sits way too far down.
So, I made the tweaks and here we go with another print...
Not a perfect color match, but not horrible either.
And the final print. The red/blue/gold drivers do now fit, however on the red one, I should have put a floor in that spacer because I did not account for the larger hole in the aluminum tool holder, so it goes down deeper and thus tilts backwards slightly. Easy fix and I will likely reprint all 3 and add a 2mm floor.
For the nut driver on the right, don't worry about that... Moving on
For the new tool holder, Everything fits perfect now, except the yellow handle driver, and it's just a touch snug. Noting some emery cloth won't take care of.
