General Lost CF wing support

My grandkids lost my CF wing spar and I can't find a replacement CF tube that is the right size. As I am just beginning with the plane and am no where near a 3D flyer, I have a question. I found a 1/2 in hardwood dowel that is very stiff and fits snugly in the fuselage tube and the wing rubes. I know that I am paying a weight penalty, but would this be a suitable substitute for general Sport maneuvers?

Have you thought about using an arrow shaft? They are pretty cheap and you can get them just about anywhere.

But in a pinch, yes, you can use the dowel.

Yeah..for general sport flying, that 1/2" hardwood dowel will work.

Have you considered an aluminum tube Derek? May be lighter and stronger.
