Lubrication

Are there any "rules-of-thumb" on how frequently to lubricate bearings on helis? I know too frequently can be almost as bad as not enough. Also, is there an expected bearing life, hours, under normal, non-stunt, use?

Currently I've been putting a drop of a plastic safe oil with teflon additive about every hour of use or if I can detect a change in sound (need to have my hearing aids in for this one, can't hear high frequencies :dispirited:)

You should lube every bearing and check the thrust bearings for wear every 10 flights. That is what the manual states anyway.

You know a thread like this one teaches everybody to always take care of their toys. Just an awesome question

Agreed. It's easy to take care of a heli/ car by doing the preventive maintenance instead of waiting for something to give out.
