ESC New Trex500x Set Up

I am building and setting up a brand new Align Trex500X. My question has to do with the ESC. I am using a Ikon 2 BT, Spektrum Remote Receivers(SPM9745), stock Align motor, and the stock Align RC-BL80A, I have noticed this ESC can be "programmed" with different parameters. My question is - Does it need to be programmed at all ? Are the default settings from the factory sufficient for my BOX stock Trex500X ?

Thanks for any input.

Default setting will get you by and should be safe for the motor and electronics. I would double check the voltages though. And if I remember correctly, the Align ESC is just a hobbywing unless this is an older kit.

That model ESC is a re-badged HW and will work fine with the Align motor, it can be programmed using the HW LCD Program box but I would only worry about that if you were running a Scorpion motor which has a lower timing.

I appreciate the feedback. Yes, this is a brand new kit just received from Powerheli 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure how to check the voltage Tony. ????

The servos in this kit are HV servos. I guess, my main concern is if they are getting "Enough" voltage. Is it possible that the ESC is set at 5V default ? and that is NOT enough ?

I know that 5v used to be the standard, so I don't see why it has changed ... I'd assume it is 5v unless you read it differently

It sounds like I may need to purchase the programming box and adjust the voltage up a bit. As the specifications on these DS530M and DS535m servos show torque and speed values for 6.0 Volts and 8.4 Volts.

If I was you I would purchases the programming box and adjust accordingly. The box is always handy to have.

To check the voltage, I would just use a volt meter. Simple and fast.

But definitely get the program box. I was thinking as Keith stated, that it was just a rebranded hobbywing.

And Randy, times are a changin'. 6v is the new 5v and like Moore posted, most servos these days are "HV" and take 8.4v. More power, More speed!! lol.
