Orientation training - back to basics

Hey all ... as per one of the threads talking about our strengths and weaknesses.... I have decided to practice, practice, practice ...

Just got back from 5 Batteries of low level All Orientation Hovering.....

My Weak side is Nose Right .... and it has drastically improved after 5 batteries..... so, Practice does make perfect!

I also tweaked my 3Gx Pots as I was getting a bit of slight tail nodding and also Aileron shake.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you are learning ... you want some height between you and the hard deck.

One day I will be able to hover like that. Good job keeping the heli in the camera the whole time.

Cheers! ..... I am slowly getting the feel for this heli and its tendancies... I have learnt that as you rotate you have to compensate before it drifts off axis ... I am working on that now!

I have not been able to do that as of yet. When I piro I wait till I have it level and it spins flat with out much drift. If I piro as it is drifting I freak out and forget to correct it till it is back to tail in.

yep ... that is why orientation is important as far as basics go as you can then apply your eye hand co-ordination and make it look a lot easier than it really it is. the more you unconsciously compensate with you "FEEL FOR THE HELI" ... the smoother .. .and more stable it looks ... but we all know it is not as easy as it looks!!! LMAO.

I did not think it was too bad since it was only 1 - 3 feet off the ground 90% of the time .... means your reactions need to be that more faster ..... one wrong move ... SPLAT!

Oh yeah. I recently started doing nose left at 5 feet and my nose right is above 10 feet. My nose in is well, I lock up onse it happens and I freak out and hit rudder right away. I have done nose in on the training stand. I have confidence with the safety of the stand.

My problem is thinking as if I were in the cockpit, getting my left and right where they're supposed to be. I've been trying on the sim but find the 450 is easier to handle than the sim. I've also picked up a Blade CX3 that I can use in the house or garage to try and get the right mind set.
