Yeah Helene spared us. Winds maybe gust upto 30mph and very little rain for us but I imagine after day break, the damage will be revealed around the area.

Here in Sebring, we got 39 mph sustained wind and 58 mph gusts. But very little rain. No damage at all around here, aside from a few small tree limbs in the yard.

Mother nature isn't giving any breaks in the storms. I just hope Milton doesn't get as strong as they are forecasting.
Not looking good. We are in the cone of a cat 5 hurricane. The only good thing we will be on the left side of the eye vs the right side.

It`s going to lose strength way before it reaches Florida. It`s supposed to be cat 3 when it makes landfall around Tampa on Wednesday, and they always drop at least 1 category after making landfall.

I know NOAA is currently forecasting CAT 3 on landfall as Geena mentioned ... While NOAA's forecasts aren't perfect, neither is anyone elses. They will get more accurate as it gets closer to landfall.

It`s leaving me alone too. It`s making landfall between Bradenton and St Pete, so all we will get is tropical store strength wind later tonight. Sometime around 23:00

I just checked on hurricanes.gov and it shows the wind speeds at 120 mph making it a CAT 3 currently. Much better than the 160 mph I saw earlier. There has been a line of tornado warnings along the eastern / south eastern side everytime I've looked, not to mention the flood warnings.

Tornado warnings are standard issue with every hurricane, and though they are possible, there usually not too common. At least here in Sebring. The storm is northwest of us and we are not going to get a whole lot of it, as we are not in the direct path. It`s not even raining here yet, but the wind is picking up some. It`s probably 40-50 miles per hour. It`s not supposed to get much worse than that for Sebring.

The number of tornado warnings I've seen in this event has been one of the higher I've recalled seeing. At the time I posted earlier, they had already had over 50. The inclusion of tornadoes, storm surge and rain in addition to the hurricane itself are some of why these are so destructive.

I also just heard one of the tornadoes has had fatalities from it, I don't have the details, it's being reported as I type this.

My hopes and prayers are with everyone that is being affected.
