Batteries Gone bad :(

Hey all. I'm going flying for the first time, at the park tomarrow since April 13th of last year due to family heath problem. I have brand new batteries that I purchased over a year ago. I went to charge them and no dice. The battery voltage reads 1%. I try to bring them back to life but no luck. Does anyone how? I have ordered new ones but I hate to see these battery go to waste.

It's not safe, but I have restored batteries by "juicing" them cell by cell. I would use a parallel board to plug them into and do a quick plug and unplug a few times. this will cause the traces to heat up quite fast and you will likely kill your board if plugged in for too long, so don't use a good parallel board. But only do it with the balance leads, not the main lead. I have also done it with a paperclip, however that clip can get hot as well, so use pliers.

Reason for the balance plug, rather than dealing with 22.2 volts, you are only dealing with 3.7 volts. Less sparking (if any). Just remember, You are effectively dead shorting the "good" pack, so it's very hard on it. Only use a pack that you are not worried about losing. I also go across the balance plug as well. cell 1 to cell 1, cell 2 to cell 2 and so on. Never cell 1 on the good pack to all cells on the bad pack.

Thank you Tony for that information. I think I'll just take the battery, after draining them, to Lowes lipo battery dissposal center. My new batteries will be here on the 14th. I can wait.

Sucks to lose new batteries, but definitely understand.

Thinking further, if this is for a 3S pack, you can try to use a standard car battery charger on the main plug. Put it on trickle and let it go for a bit. Safer and doesn't risk another battery. Might just work for more cells as well to help get them up a little bit. Could put a half charge in a 6s.

They are my 6s battery and I hate to see them go but I really don't want to jump start the batteries.

Proper storage is always the best way to keep batteries for a while. Never put up fully charged or fully discharged. Doing a storage charge/discharge of 3.85 to 3.86 volts per cell
will make them last much longer. I have batteries I have been using over 3 years. Now they want have the punch of new batteries for fast flight. But still good for glider or slow flight models. I never leave a battery charged/discharged for over 1to 2 days if not going to be used. Charging bench is a little of a mess right now LOL
