Hello RC Fans

I am new to rc kinda. I have a couple of drones one beast and one dji phantom 3 but I have just recently joined the car/truck group. I have an XLF X03 and a Redcat gen 7 Pro crawler. I just bought a couple of batteries and the documentation says the gen7 will run on s2 or s3 lipo. My problem is understanding that one is a 7.4 volt and the other is 11.1 volt. And it came with a 7.2 volt NiMH. I know I have to move the jumper. Problem is how does the difference in voltage effect the motor? Thanks for any help.
