Hi to you all here on RC-Help.com
Andy is my name and I'd like to say A Big English Hello to you all and look forward to our interactions. FYI - I've just returned to the RC Heli Hobby after a long break of...wait for it....23 Years! That was such a long time ago I know but such are Trails and Tribulations of life!
First of all - To Tony - Your RC-Help is GREAT Site along with your Excellent How-To-Do Videos and everything else here - Keep up the Excellent work...Well done!
I'm simply AMAZED at how RC Heli's and Radio's have changed over the years. Years back, I had 2 x Hirobo 505's - OS.60 Glow, A Kalt Baron .60, A kalt 22cc Petrol Engine, 2 x Hirobo Shuttles - when they first came on to the market in 1985, A small fixed pitch Cricket OS.30 Glow - My first Heli and Hirobo I think but to be honest REAL JUNK, Wot 4 Aerobatic Fixed Wing with OS.60 Glow and a Large Glider (???) plus a couple of Os.32 Glow Cars - GP And Off-Road.
I think you could all say I was a True RC addict back then.
Radio Gear was Futaba 8 channel FM.35Mhz PCM (Pulse Code Modulation). I bought this Aerobatic Heli Radio for the 2nd Hirobo 505 Kit and Hated it - Expensive (Cost GBP 500 in 1983) and was continually problematic and I regretted ever buying it, even after 4 warranty repairs in the first year it still never worked and would 'Freeze and Lock Up' in Mid-Flight with the inevitable uncontrollable crash - not at all helpful when Inverted!
My main TRUSTED Heli Radio, was a JR 8 Channel FM.35Mhz - Can't remember what model - Simple, effective, No Computer programming back in those days to help Tune things in like nowadays just like no Computer Flight Sims were even imagined either.
Last week I purchased the Spektrum DX6i DSMX and the Phoenix Flight Sim V.3. This was after reading many reviews of Today's Much Improved Radio Gear and numerous Flight Sim programs available - Some Excellent, many are trash. I was looking for the best buy, quality and, of course, Value for money - and who can blame me for that, eh?
What a great combination and, even better, it was so good to know that even after such a long break I doing well on the Phoenix Sim with the err... the 'Occasional Mishap'.
Joking aside - The Phoenix Sim, or any QUALITY Sim' is such a good investment and an incredible True-To-Life training tool to both Learn and Hone your Flying Skills without the Expensive repair bills associated in the 'Occasional Mishap' which happens to us all. (R U Thinking - 'Yep I do That too...the Occasional Mishap')
If you haven't got a Quality Flight Sim like Phoenix or RealFlight, Take it from an 'Oldie' and Treat YOURSELF - GET ONE TODAY - They're worth every Pound, Penny, Cent, Dollar and you'll learn to fly in no time and you won't regret it!
I have a CopterX 450 Se V2 RTF which will arrive here shortly and I will be setting up the DX6i DSMX for this model upon arrival. However I'll continue honing the skills on the Phoenix before the CopterX 450 with be in the air.
