Mr. Wasp, I Hate You...

Went to turn the water hose off and this red wasp thought it was a bad idea. There is a down spout right next to the valve and they have an assumedly large nest in there. I grabbed a can of brake cleaner and sprayed up into it and about 10 of them came charging out. So I came back inside to let them settle down while I devise a plan to annihilate them. Oh yes, this means WAR!!!!!

I killed a few honey bees that were left over from the bee keeper harvesting them with dawn dish liquid and water. I wonder if the same will work on wasps?

Oh, and honey bees hurt too, just not quite as bad for quite as long. They don't like it when you hit their nest with a lawn mower either. LOL!!!

The red ones are hornets... not wasps and yes they are really territorial. Use hornet/wasp killer as mentioned, it's the only way to get them without risking getting stung again.

No, it's actually a wasp. There are several species and this one is the meanest. There is one other that we have here that has a black abdomen. They don't hurt as much but still make you curse in german. (german cursing just sounds really mad)

Yup, I have a bunch of them here at my house as well. The black ones are not as mean (the ones with the blue wings), the yellow and black ones just like to buzz you, but these little red bastards are the ones that will come after you without being provoked.

That pic looks like the hornets I've seen all my life but it could be deceiving since I can't really see the size ( may look bigger than it is ). Also the area between the abdomen and thorax is obscured making it harder to distinguish.

A wasp is typically 1" or less in length, a hornet 1.5" or longer. A hornet's head behind the eyes is usually wider and the abdomen is thicker and more rounded. Most wasps tend to be long and more slender. Size is the most tell tale attribute that distinguishes between a wasp and a hornet.

lmao, I did just purchase a bottle opener that says "A Hangover Only Lasts A Day... But The Memories Last A Lifetime!". But no, I stopped drinking just to get drunk and only do it to relax now. One drink and done kind of thing lol.

Try some benadryl ... should help with the swelling.

Only thing with benadryl is I don't want to be sleepy. I hate taking stuff like that. I took some ibuprofen so I'll see what that does. if it doesn't subside by tomorrow I'll try that.
