Thanks Graham Lawrie and HeliDinoRC.
I wouldn't call my truck or the R/C airplane a "toy". But they are both very fun.

Hello to all y'all once again. I know its been a long time since I've posted on here, and I thought it was time for a update today...

Since the last time I posted on here (I'm not sure of the exact date) I've kinda put my R/C interest to the side for personal reasons. I still have the Edge 540 I told y'all about and my dad still has his helicopters. The problem is now that its been so long since they've seen the sky, I'm not sure they're still able to be flown. Back when we "buddy-boxed" we used 72Mhz receivers and transmitters. Nowadays everything seems to be on the 2.4Ghz band. Which is ok, but I don't have the equipment to make that conversion happen at this time. So the Edge 540 we built together and his helicopters have been put into retirement sadly. However, in the near future (if at all possible), Id like to start flying one of the modern flybarless helicopters. While too, getting my dad back into the hobby. The SAB Goblins look really cool! Time will tell where the road leads as far as that goes though. On a more positive note, I still use RealFlight 7.5 ALOT! So until the day comes I become a true R/C pilot again (for lack of a better term), that is what I will be doing. I apologize for taking so long to post this, but for those of you that've helped me with the questions I did have, thank you and I hope to see y'all flying on the simulator. Also, I didn't know where else would be a good place to post this, so I chose to put it here. If this post is in the wrong place for any reason, I apologize for any inconvenience. God bless y'all and thanks again.

Howdy again!...

Just thought I'd check in on the forums and give everyone a quick update. In 2019 I won a coupon at a local fly in for $250 off of any Desert Aircraft engine I would choose. So, after much debate with myself and some fellow pilots, I decided to go big. I ordered a DA-120 and recently sold that engine due to a lack of transportability and hangar space. I know I made mention in the past about having a 105" or so airplane, but I simply cant haul it to fly ins or to my home field without a bigger trailer / truck. I have been flying various 3s foamies, which has been fun, but I still have a desire to build a gasser...

I checked on Extreme Flight's website for a 50cc - 60cc size airplane since the cost difference between that and say a 35cc airplane isn't too crazy. I also checked on AJ Aircraft, but couldn't find what I really was looking for. So, I signed up for the waiting list for extreme flight's 85" green MXS and I'm hoping to order one of them when they become available again.

Extreme and 3D Hobby Shop ( same company now ) make some very nice aircraft... almost all of mine are 3DHS and I loved them all... you can't go wrong with either brand.

Howdy Again everyone,

Finally decided to get back on the forums, and post another update. Life has been busy, but I am still flying. Especially since summer is here.
I got to build up a Hangar 9 Extra 330SC - 60E, and went up for the maiden flight this past Sunday . It flew remarkably well, compared to the foamies I'm used to. Didn't spend a lot of time in the air, just enough to check power, trims, and started shooting for landings in the wind. Thankfully it landed still in one piece, just took some extra time coming down. It felt really "floaty" on approach, so I brought it down and let the wheels roll out to a stop. Its my first balsa airplane in years, and being a 6S airplane, its also the biggest 3D airplane I've had (so far) . I can try to post pictures if some would like to see it, and I have a video my dad took of the maiden flight I could try to post too.

In other news, I also just ordered a Redwing RC yak-54 profile plane (20cc gas) I want to build up. Everyone I know that flys 3D at my local flying field really enjoys them; So I'm hoping for the best. Not sure if I'll have it out for this season or not yet, but I'm looking forward to its arrival. Link to the profile plane if anyone is interested:

Well, as of today, the build thread continues. I decided to try something new for 2023 and bought into the R/C no-prep racing side of the hobby…Ordered a Team Associated DR10M. As for the build, it’s coming together nicely with only one complaint / concern.

I was putting in a steering bellcrank case arm and while installing the ball stud to said arm, noticed a small possible crack in the side of the arm. I’m trying not to be over critical here; although it was something I noticed with the kit so far. I tried to attach photos of the build, but the picture files were too big, so I’ll have to try and upload them in another post or upload them another way…

Thanks D.O.G.!

I had some more free time tonight to work on the DR10M, only to realize some of the parts orientation was backwards / reversed. After getting things straightened out and re-secure, it was time to move forward…

I got most of the front end put together, getting close to mounting it on the chassis. The only issue this time was one caused by me over tightening a body post tab. When I looked at it closer, I could see the plastic slot was crushed pretty bad. And of course, here are additional pictures from the rest of my progress for today:

Today was productive, didn’t get as far as I was hoping - but the DR10M is almost done…Chassis is nearly finished, shocks all filled, and wheels / tires are mounted! Sorry for the shadow in the pictures, but here is todays progress:

D.O.G - Thank you very much!

The DR10M chassis is as complete as I can get it for now. The electronics are laid-out in place (except for the steering servo and receiver). So I decided to get a jump-start on cutting the body and other little parts. Unfortunately though, I try to paint outdoors to avoid overspray issues - and it is still WWAAYY too cold for me to do that. I will post pictures soon, just haven’t had a chance to take more…yet lol.

P.S - The Bob Smith Industries tire glue is super messy! I love their products for airplane glues, but the tire glue was a struggle.

DR10M photo update…The clear body is a BittyDesign ZL21 Camaro waiting for paint.
Motor: Maclan DRK 4-pole 6600kv.
ESC: Maclan DRK 160 with fan and external BEC.
Battery: Maclan 2S-HV Lipo 8800Mah with 8mm direct plugs / bullet connectors.
The little module on the front bumper / skid plate is a SkyRC Data Analyzer.

D.O.G. - I definitely want to start making videos with the car and my airplanes too, when the time comes!

The car is just about ready for paint, but with flying season coming up - I’ve also been working on another airplane. My most recent project has been a 67” Skywing Edge 540 in green / charcoal. I kept it tucked away for awhile, waiting for scorpion to release their new motor designed for the airplane…So of course, it now has a A4225-500kv scorpion motor, 18 x 8 propeller, savöx 1261mg servos all around, and a castle 120A HV ESC. I have one more plane to build too, but I’m saving that announcement for a later date! It still needs a lot before I get to fly it. I also have a lot of tuning and radio programming to do…I will post more up to date pictures when I get the chance.
