Trucks Shocks and springs

I just bought an used RTR 1/16 Traxxas Slash 4x4 and would like some advice if I can get some. I'm looking to try and get a little more ground clearance and am trying to figure out what would be a good spring rate to get for it. Right now i am planning on using it on the street and grass with the occasional dirt/gravel.

Darren, I know this post is a year old now, but trying to get back into the swing of things and saw there was no response to this question. Since I don't know what exactly you will be doing or how you like to drive the truck (I know you said street and grass with some gravel/dirt), my answer is going to be pretty generic.

If you are going to be driving on mostly smooth street and grass surfaces, you can go with a little stiffer spring. But in gravel and if you plan on jumping it, you will want to tune the suspension to what you are going to do. if your suspension is too tight/stiff, it will jump sketchy, and bounce bad on landings.

Shock oil is something else to consider. Thicker oil is great for flat surfaces, but you will want 30-40 weight oil for any kind of jumping (from my experience). But with that light little 1:16th truck, it may require lighter oil since there is not as much weight to handle.

IMO, if you want true ground clearance, rather than jacking up the suspension so there is no more rebound, but a ton of compression, think about larger tires. I did a quick search and it does not look like there are many if any options for larger tires, but that is the true way to gain ground clearance. Again, apologies for the extremely long delay in responding.
