450 tail servo problem

Hi guys have a strange one well it may not be to you in dec last year i fitted a new metal gear digital servo to a 450 fbl heli
i have a xyz gryo and i have always had a little bit of drift on the tail , its not as locked in as a HH gyro ,but its was ok
and it was running on 62% gain on gyro with no wag
the other day i was flying and heli was all over the place like it was in rate mode , so i landed and checked it and gyro red
led was on for HH mode so i took off and it was om but a little drift again
So i put heli on turn table and spun it up if you pushed on the tail the tail blades would change pitch and push heli back to
were it was , so today i was out flying in strong wind and yet again heli was like it was in rate mode even tho gyro was now
at 92% gain the tail does not wag even at 100% gain and tail does not hold at all any wind will spin heli round
So is it the tail servo thats gone or the gyro ,i have fitted a new servo just in case but cant test till i get now feathering
shaft , i am a but worried it not the servo and heli will be out of control again if i fly it , the 3 axis gyro is working on
the swash ok i tested that part , the only other thing i can think of doing is unplug tail from xyz and refit HH gyro on the
tail so the xyz is only doing the swash , i dont fly 3d so gyro is never working the servo very hard so a gutted if its gone
in less than 6 months unless this is all tail servos last for ?

Here are my question:
Is this a zyx-s or a normal zyx?

how is the mechanical setup?

Has the gyro been updated?

Do you have the required ball link to center measurements on the servo horn?

Does the tail have smooth operation, if you were to disconnect the tail push rod from the servo and stand the heli on its tail will the weight push the pitch slider?

I know that the zyx-s v3 had some issues, v4.01 fixed those issues and now there is a v4.02. I don't know what 4.02 does or fixes. Also on my Gaui X3 thread I have some info that might help you. I am going to be checking out some of my setup stuff this afternoon.

One more thing, have you adjusted any of the P.I.D gains at all?

Hi mate its the old xyz and running 1.0 firmware , the gyro has never held like a good HH gyro does where to tail snaps to a stop and stays put , yes all is set right servo ball at 90 deg , the gain for the swash are at 20% the emax digital servos dont like it any higher ,the tail gyro gain was to 62% , at 65% the tail wags , when this problem started you can put gain at 100% and tail did not wag at all , as you lower the gain it does come off HH into rate i think well thats what led say red over 51% and blue led under 50% , if i cant get the tail to wag on turn table i will take tail off the xyz and put a HH gyro on to lock tail
I have not adjusted anything in the advanced setting all is default , i have only adjusted swash and tail gains

On the drift does it tail left or tail right?

If tail left its gains and tail right could be some PID tuning or mechanical. I would also check to see if the is a firmware update for your gyro Software .

I would update your gyro first to 4.01 which is in the link provided little bit lower than half way down. Make sure you get the ZYX firmware. Once you got that done recheck your setup and then do some test hovers and see whats up. The advanced settings are available through the andriod software, not sure if its in the windows version.

Hi guys an update to problem , tail servo will only work if plugged into the receiver or HH gyro the 3 axis gyro is dead on tail axis , i cant use a HH gyro with the 3 axis as i need the gain lead for the HH gyro so 3 axis gyro will not boot up fully , oh well i need a new one

That sucks, on the bright side the -s works fairly decent.
