450 Tarot DFC head on blade 450 3d

Hi all,

I'm doing a flybarless conversion on my 450 3d. I got a tarot DFC head. But I'm having some issues and hoping someone can help.

First, the shaft that came with the head is way too short. The blade holders dont even clear the anti-rotation bracket. Is there a shaft I can get that will fit this properly? I dont really have the hardware to be able to cut it and drill a new hole.

Second, it seems like the links on the blades holders that connect to the swash are way too big for the holes in the stock swash. Anyone know where to get the correct links or the correct balls to put in the swash? Or should I just get the tarot swash?

Thanks

The only thing you can do is take the stock blade main shaft and cut 8mm off the top of it. This will put the cut line right through the top hole. Then, you need to drill a new 2mm hole 6mm from the top. This is the only option that I have found to do this. You will need a drill press to get the hole perfectly straight.

Ok I guess I'll look around for other length shaft. How do you know that it must be 8mm too long? Is there a standard size for all shafts depending on head type? (flybar, flybarless and dfc)

Also any idea regarding the second problem?

I just did some searches for others that have had to do this mod on this heli. And 8mm is what needs to be cut off. The new hole needs to be 6mm from the end (not 8 like the stock shaft).

Hey just FYI, I was able to use the stock shaft just by unscrewing the stock servo arm linkage as much as possible. That gave me enough length to be able to reach the swash at a higher position and still get full motion. I'm going to see if I can dig up a 450X shaft, which is 3-4mm shorter, that should be good enough for now. Now just need to find the correct ball links so i can fly this weekend :)

don't unscrew them too much. There is a lot of force on those linkages and they can easily strip out if there is only a few threads in them. I myself would do everything I could to cut the old shaft and do it correctly for safety sake.

Unfortunately it's just impossible for me to cut it myself, no tools or place to do that. I put about 4 or 5 turns on them on each side. It seems I'm still getting about 5deg of positive pitch. So I'll still be able to tighten them more to lower the swash. Plus with a 450x shaft, it will go 3-4mm more. I think I should be fine at that point.

I'm not sure if this will work for you but try turning the shaft up-side down. Align DFC didn't line up on my Walkera heli so i flip the shaft and it just happen to work. Give it a try.
