One of the problems I've found with most action cams when used for RC flight video is that the wide angle lenses they come with makes the plane/heli seem really far away and very small, plus you get annoying fish eye distortion of the image. When I saw that the new Firefly 8S 4k action cam had an option of a 90 degree 'non-distortion' lense I had to give it a go. In addition to the lens this is a high spec action cam with true 30FPS 4k capability (or 120FPS in 1080p HD), plus gyro image stabilisation and wifi integration with smart phones etc.
I'm really pleased with the results, here's a flight from the weekend. This is shot in 1080p HD with the camera's gyro image stabiliser active:
The video has no processing done, other than adding the title it's straight off the camera. I think this is about as good as it gets for a simple head cam?
