Learning to fly

Some blades are backwards. My 300X has trailing edge control so swash up gives negative pitch and vice versa. 550X is leading edge so up swash gives positive pitch.

Looking good! Especially impressive you seem to have a good feel for nose in at a relatively early stage of your learning process.

Get it up further off the ground to get out of ground effect so you don't train strong cyclic moves for direction corrections. By sticking so close to the ground and the gear being in frequent contact, you are having to make exaggerated cyclic moves to maintain hover and make direction corrections. Get it up off the ground and you will find it is easier to hover and will take less stick input to make subtle hover corrections.

And be careful flying it in toward yourself. If you overshoot you may well end up with the rotor chopping at your shins. While doing this ground training, I'd try to keep it a minimum of 10 feet away from yourself at all times. When you get it up a couple feet in the air and hovering, move that safety margin out to 15ft-20ft.

Lastly, don't fly the battery all the way down to the point it becomes difficult to control. You're going to shorten the life of the battery considerably if you do that on a regular basis.

Keep up the good work, Dustin!
