I'm not flying FPV yet, but have a 350QX with a camera mounted on it which gives first person view after the fact.

Once I get my second camera up with a new memory card I'll be able to do some synced up split screens, but for now we'll roll an FPV thread for it.

Flight 5 is with an original GoPro Hero on it, using the stock anti-vibration mount. Flight 7 is using a new Hero3+ in the full sealed case (hence lower wind noise, despite the very windy day, and rotor noise). Neither is anything special, but you get some nice high altitude views of my immediate area, my house and yard, and even a few shots of myself (look away, look away). An some agility mode flips. :)

I'm still getting used to flying the quad. Trying to trim it out for stable fight (the camera mount is way forward of CoG so it tends to tilt it foward and make it move forward, and cause some fluttering when hovering due to it trying and failing to hold a level hover automatically). Flight 7 is in pretty high winds (20MPH) which is about the limit that this quad can handle in stability mode. I tried some agility mode flight and it was able to better deal with the winds, but this mode makes for some pretty rough camera shots due to the higher tilt angles.

I have a gimbal on order for it (TRD's beholder lite) which should help considerably with keeping a steady shot despite the tilt of the quad to fly and hold position. I'll also be doing a custom mounting for this gimbal on the quad instead of using the stock position, which will put it much closer to CoG and should help with giving the quad an easier time of holding level flight in stability and smart modes of flight without the need for massive amounts of trim in the Tx.

Video 5, it's a little cold for a swarm of bee's to be out isn't it??:biggrin1: lol j\k.
My wife bought me a go pro hero 3+ Ive been trying out on my 450, now I'm thinking of building a quad to use.

nice video's!

Another video, flight 8. This time with some music from my favorite band, Dream Theater. Agility mode flight segment. Still getting used to how this flies vs a single rotor.

I'm liking it so far, but I do wish it was bigger, both to have more room underneath for the camera and gimbal rig, and also for hover stability and wind handling. I'll definitely be putting together a 500 size quad or hex at some point.

With CoG being so important on most RC flyers, I can't understand why someone would produce a gimbal that does not take this in to account. Although they may be allowing for FPV tx and battery to balance it out. :)

I found with my 450 X quad, room to mount stuff was at a premium.
By the time I got FPV cam and tx mounted, a small 2s battery to run it from and then started trying to mount OSD and GPS I was running out of room.
Easy answer was a discovery clone frame.
Now I have all the room in the world, all I have to worry about is CoG.

Flight 9

Some more agility mode flight. Further out in the back yard this time, so you get some shots of the creek and even over into the farm field behind my lot. Also tried using the full D/R setting (have been flying 70% setting so far). Much snappier rolls. Almost no altitude loss. Will throw a little expo on to soften it up around center for precision hovering.

Set the camera on 60FPS, 1080p medium FOV. No more fisheye effect. Faster paced flight as I'm starting to get used to the behavior of it. Tends to wobble on high speed passes. And stall turns don't work like I'm used to with the single rotor collective pitch helis. :)

Lot of editing in this video. It has PiP of my head cam (this is what took forever, keeping that quad in the PiP window takes a lot of manual keyframing and position adjustments of the underlying video panel, there's probably an easier way to do it, but I have not learned it yet). Three audio tracks I'm manipulating throughout. Got my first good 360 degree pano shot from altitude. The quad was holding level hover in stability mode much better today than on prior flights without the need for trim. I moved the battery as far back as I possibly could which I think got the CoG close enough that the flight controller could deal with it. I'm going to need to ballast this thing with some weight on the back between the skids, I think. At least until my gimbal comes in and I do a custom mount closer to CoG.

After the high altitude pano, I got in some speed runs and fast forward flight. Beautiful day (30-35 deg, low breeze, partly cloudy).

Once I get the gimbal on it the video results should be much better. Too much tipping and bobbing to hold position now.

Flight 21: Seeing some pretty bad jello effect on this one, which is unfortunate because it was a great day and I got it pretty far up there for some nice panoramic shots. Going to try putting some ear plugs in the dampers to see if it smooths things out. Also going to rebalance props now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing.

No more music in the videos. YouTube started flagging the ones I had music in as copyright violations. Going to have to go back and tweak the projects and rerender without the tunes and repost.

Flight 19: Some nice sunset shots in this one. Actually a compilation of two flights.

IT's 2 axis so tilt and pitch. No yaw. I can control tilt and pitch aiming position too, but I'm using a 7 channel Rx hack so can only control the pitch at the moment, which is fine. Have no particular need for tilt control.

I do need to work on eliminating vibrations. HAven't had time yet to rebalance the props or try stuffing some ear plugs in the gimbal mount dampers. Been nice out so I've been flying the helis, at long last! :)

We got hills around here. Lots of stuff. This is actually a great area for doing some nature shots, landscapes, etc. I plan to do some passes on local waterfalls, creeks, etc. to start with.
