Yes, you can make them out of thin basswood as well, just use some CA to help make them a little stronger.
 
I got my son cutting the template out right now. We will tape it together and transfer that to card stock then cut the foam board.

I crashed his harbor freight plane and crushed the propeller mount. We'll get this one done and I'll let him do the maiden flight. It'll be his plane anyway.
 
That is another thing that is great about the RCH Trainer, it's really cheap to rebuild lol.
 
The link on the pdf plans is a dead end. Is there something you can post up on the trainer build? I need some advice on where to make cuts on the template. I'm thinking that I need to cut the solid red lines that are on the edges of the pages.

Also, I'm looking at servo extension cables and splitters. Would it benefit me to get a kit and make my own?
 
Here is a video on how to print and cut the plans. As for servo extensions, I would highly suggest making your own. That is what I do. It's an investment but it pays off. If you are wanting a video on how to build the plane, I have not made those videos yet for the V3, but below the first video is the link to the playlist to the V1 build guide. And I will check the links and fix them when I can.

I fixed the link on the PDF plans (well, I did a rewrite rule to redirect it since there are so many plans out there. Just better this way) and I fixed the video playlist in the correct link as well. Let me know if you find any other issues.
 
Another person building the RCH Trainer? Awesome! Ive built and flown a few of them. Very easy build and its a great little flyer! Have fun with it!
 
Who has the best deal on servo cable kits? I'd prefer to get a kit that has maybe a roll of wire, crimpers, terminals, and housings.
 
I'm about to start ordering electrics for the plane. I want to know a little more about the brushless motor. I see they have two numbers. I am going to assume the first number is just a part number and the second is what I need to pay attention to.

I need to get connectors for the motor and esc and also a power plug.
 
I can't for the life of me remember where I ordered my crimpers, but the end and plug kit I got off ebay for like $5 or something cheap. Works pretty well. I think the crimpers I got off of hobbyking. Again, can't remember. And that motor should work fine. Just wont' have a lot of power.
 
No. It has to have the ability to crimp the wire and the insulation at the same time. The part that holds the insulation is rolled in to it if you will...
 
Ivan, you do know we are talking about servo crimpers, right? Those things are usually smaller than what HF would be able to crimp and make look good. But in reality, if you don't care about looks, you could use a pair of needle nose pliers lol.
 
But If your looking for multi meter, I have one I'll get rid of. I new I had one but couldn't fine it so I bought another. Sure enough the other one pop up. Imagine that after buying the new one Lol

Man I got about 15 or 20 of those disposable hft meters. LOL!
