450 450L Rudder ?

I have a question regarding the rudder setup. In heading hold mode, set at approximately 70%, when I move the rudder stick the servo slowly comes back to centre, or there about, when I move the tail the rudder stays in the deflective position until I move the other way and holds that position also.

Should the deflection caused by the stick movement also hold the rudder position when the stick is released.

Cheers

Is this a 3GX gyro?

Normally in Head hold the rudder will move slowly back when in the air. On the bench it will hold the position until the stick is moved again. If you want the tail to snap back after input while on the bench then go into rate mode.

A 3GX gyro it is, so somewhere I have a set up issue in HH, the servo moves back to centre when I let go of the stick, could it need more or less gain to hold position, or is it something else.

Thanks

And just to clarify things, on the 3GX I have a green light in HH and a red light in rate mode.

I don't have a huge knowledge base on 3GX so I cant answer beyond what I have posted already. One of the 3GX gurus on here will have to clarify and questions you have on it.

As for the gain you really wont notice it until its in the air. You will see the tail shake left and right if its to high and a slow wag if its to low. 3GX 4.0 does have a tail holding issue that may or may not be fixable in a setup.

As long as you have a green status light, you are in HH mode. I would do a test hover to make sure everything is okay.

Thanks Tony, the gain is set to 68% and I have a rotary dial that I can go 20% either side of that to fiddle with.

Your operation seems normal to me. When I start or pick up the heli as I have flown too close to something, I always flip from HH to rate mode to centre the tail as I always like to spool up with the tail centred.

So what you are seeing seems fine:)
