If you run the torque tube, first off you will have to order Align gears. Those cheap ones they come with will break just looking at them. And second, when you come in for a landing, you will ALWAYS touch the tail to the ground when you are learning. One little slight touch of the tail blades to the ground and you will strip those tail gears.
The belt is a safer bet while you are learning. If there are a couple teeth missing on the TT, but enough to fly, you could put the heli in the air, have the gears strip completely and start doing an out of control piro on it's way down. This is very dangerous for those around.
The belt is the best option when learning.
