450 I got bored!

Rodney,

Wont the Hobbywing ESC fit under the battery tray in the position that the original Align ESC is meant to go?.. or is it too wide?

Getting a nice neat installation on a 450 can be a real challenge, they are packed pretty tight. The big stuff is a lot easier, more space.

Yes too wide, that is one of the downsides to 450's. I tried even setting the ESC sideways inside there but there was no good place to even use sticky tape to hold it, or get a zip tie to secure it because of the openings on the side of the frame. Plus it started getting way too close to the motor, and I was trying to orientate it so that the program plug was exposed for sorta easy access (I'd still had to remove the battery tray each time to get to it even then) I finally had to resolve to the outside for a happy median.
Yes sir, even my 500 is so much easier to place things.
I love these 450 size heli's except 2 things, like you said parts placement is a challenge, and they are harder to see good. I have to always keep in mind flying them to not let em get too far out to where I loose orientation.

Yeah what I reckoned too, I can get right to my program plug too without tearing it apart....
Well here she is ugly eye sore wires and all!
I ran into all sorts of weird stuff with this project!
Lost my shaft ring that locks the shaft down, luckily I'd ordered a spare set of main shafts and one came in the bag.
Dropped the nut to lock down the shaft head with, took me a half hour to find the dang thing! It had bounced rolled 5 feet away under my tool box!
When I was in step G kept raising the swash trying to get 0 pitch, when I needed to go down!
The tail was not behaving in step E was showing pitch when it should have been 0. I had replaced the tail case with a Pro case, and some how that screwed everything up!
Just one thing after another! Now hopefully it does good on the hover test, and then Gov setup after that.

I think it looks fine. To tell ya the truth, I can't remember seeing a 450 that didn't have the ESC or at least something on the outside of the frame with some wires showing. Yours looks pretty clean compared to most 450's I have seen. Don't think you have anything to worry about.

On a different note.....I hate the dman spell check on this phone!!!!! I have to go back thru every single post cause the spell check screws everything up and makes me seem like an idiot.

Yeah, on my old 450 pro I had to strap the ESC to the belly. The layout of the Trex 450 helis isn't so good if you want to use anything but the standard align ESC (which is very narrow). My Chase 360 is a lot better for component placement:

Don't be so hard on your self and the bird. Looks great! Don't forget, you can't see the wires when your flying, Lol. My 450 gave me a hard time all this week also. All of Mine was mechanical and happen in the air :(

I think it looks good, there isn't very much room to route larger gauge wires on that frame. Nice job. Now, do you want another 450 Pro :D

Why are you giving up on your 450 pro? Is there a problem? If there's anything we can help with, just ask. We'll do our best to help.

Actually I like the way the older 450 Pro flies compared to the Dominator. Just sticking to 3 helis in my fleet now. I had a streak of impulse buying. When my shelf can't hold all of my helis, time to thin the fleet.

You have 3 or 4? I have 11!!!! And thinking about getting another one. It's a disease. I'm addicted!

Oops! I'm sorry, but I have 12 all together. I forgot about the quad that I have. My wife don't understand. Like I said, it's a disease and I'm addicted!

Since you mentioned it, I have 4 cars too, and 2 motorcycles. Definitely would benefit from selling a few things.

12 seems to be the magic number, if i exclude the indoor 'toy grade' stuff I've got twelve too. Then of course I've got at least as many fixed wing planes.

Yeah I know, just hate hanging stuff on the outside....haha this is what happens when one is tired and it's late....

Glad I decided not to spool it up last night, just noticed looking at it before heading to work....

I accidentally flew my trex 600 with the tail blades on backward once. It actually flew ok, the tail rotor made a slightly 'different' noise and it was as if the gain was too high, but nothing catastrophic.

Yeah when I built my 450L I had my main blades on backwards the first hover test I did, that always worries me when I do stuff like that and makes me wonder what else I mighta screwed up on.
Haha I just noticed the Viagra advertisement pen laying there on the bench....
I had traded pens with a lady I'd worked with for years, she'd see a pen I may have, and I would see one she might be using that I liked, so we traded all the time. She had that pen one day and I had to have it!
Finally got her to trade with me and when I put it in my shirt pocket, I told her "man this stuff must really work great because just this pen is making me all excited!" We had a good laugh over that one. So these days I keep it out in the garage for my garage pen. Writes very good too! :)
