Quad My RCX250 Mini quad build

Well I liked the way the everyone's RCX250 Mini quad looked so I had to get one...

I picked up 4 motors the V2 like Lee has on his... Thanks for the heads up on the new version
I will be going with the Flip32 I have a few laying around.
and 12 amp ESC's

Mobius Action Camera (Wide Lens Version) - 1080P HD
Sony Super HAD CCD 600TVL Board Camera 2.1mm Lens OSD
Pololu 12V Step-Up Voltage Regulator U3V12F12 this little item works great to power a 12v board cam from the FatShark Vtx 5v output.

That's pretty close to what I have but I am using the Naze32.
These things are heaps of fun, I have crashed mine head on into a tree and just damaged a couple of props.

What props are you going to use.
I got some hq prop 5x3 from Readymade RC.
They are a bit stiffer than the Gemfan ones and seem to just chip the ends instead of break whole blades off.

I am sure you will love this thing.
I am starting to find how robust these are which leads to pushing the envelope a bit more, hence the Oops video.

I have a few of the HQ props the nylon carbon mix, they do seem pretty stiff over the regular Gem Fan.

Yep my Mini's are the most fun I have had doing FPV, when I get this one finished I will have 3.... LOL I can see a 4th in the future can we say 4s and a 6x2 prop....

I am toying with building a very small wood frame that will take my 450 parts.
1100kv motors 8" or 9" props in a 300 size package running 4s.
I built one a while ago and it was insane but I needed the motors for another build.

Thanks.... Got it all finished and have been having a lot of fun flying it.

Here are the rest of my build pics...

I did put HQ 5x3 props on it and seems to do real well with a 1800mAh 3s Zippy compact 25c 6.5 to 7min flight times
5.5min if I am above 3/4 throttle most of the flight.

















And for the finished product... Flight ready...

I have three of them here now Craig.
The first one was the Carbon Composite frame.
Second is the 3K carbon frame
And the third is the 3K Carbon (DT Version)

Here is the DT version. Basically the same, but with better designed cutouts in the frame for wiring.
I also used the crappy landing gear, as a camera lens saver.

Used a PDB as well on this one. So much cleaner wiring, and less stress.

So is the Mobius just to record the flight?

Yes... the Mobius is for in flight video...
I did change a little on my camera mounting.
I placed some extra spacers on the top two screws, this puts the camera at a slight tilt back.
I am thinking when I am WOT in forward flight I will see more of what is in front of me than more of the ground below.
Weather has sucked so I have not got to try it out yet. I will let you know what I think of this change.








I also added a safety tether to my Mobius cam mount... I keeps my mobius from flying off when I do ground tumbles.



I also changed my vibration bushings to these. I just have them removed right now...
Seems to work better than the stock ones, they seemed to soft to me.

I got to looking at my frame and noticed the hole in the rear of the top plate. Hummmmm that would be a good place for my Vtx to be mounted so the antenna would be secure in case of a bad crash.
I see so many ppl breaking the SMA connector off of the Vtx, so why not give it some protection....

That sucks.... I have been lucky so far as many high speed tumbles I have had I can't believe I have not broke one..

I was told with the ImmersionRC VTX, to add a little epoxy to the SMA connector on the board, just to give it some more strength.

That sounds good... Just don't turn it on till it dries good, could conduct current...
