Not the motor, but will cause extra resistance in the connection which could cause the connection to heat up.

Why did they make the motor pinion without a grub screw and is there a way to get a pinion that fits that has a grub screw? Don’t necessarily like putting the pinion on the motor with bonding agent and wondering if there is an alternative option?

 

[Tony]

On small helicopters, either friction fit, or green thread locker is pretty common. It holds, but if the motor overheats, it will release it. The reason they don't put a grub screw in them is they are just flat too small. The tool required to tighten a grub screw that small would be paper thin and would just snap before getting the required torque on it.

Would the bonded pinion do ok in 3D? Not quite at the point of doing 3D but would the bonded pinion hold up like a grub screwed pinion when doing 3D?

In most cases, as long as it is applied correctly, yes. It will hold up. It is going to become a maintenance item since it will break down over time.

Dude that green lock tight is the stuff. I can. It forever tight. It not coming off unless you used to little or use heat/solvent. You'll strip a main gear before that stuff gives.

The lynx motor is a 2mm shaft so if you replace the lion make sure a 2mm.

This is my Oxy 2 complete. I bought the Oxy 2 kit from amainhobbies and the Oxy 2 essentials kit from amainhobbies. I got a micro brain from amainhobbies. I put the kit together. It wasn’t too bad to put together. I added the electronics. I would say that setting up the tail was the most difficult part of this because I had to reverse the gyro and rudder channel. I’ve flown it already and it flys good. This is the first kit I’ve built. I’ve bought all my other helis already built. The one thing I don’t like right now are the connections from the battery to ESC. I think I’m going to change them to deans connections. Overall I’m happy with this heli and can’t wait to take it to the park.

I used pro plus on mine. Your esc to battery connectors do not come with the kit. With most kits the builder has to provide that.

It is a rather easy build over all. The biggest thing is the motor to esc bullets.

I’m not happy with my xt60 connectors. That’s the only thing I’d change. Also wish I had more colors as far as shrink wrap goes. I’m using green, red, and black shrink wrap on my connections from the ESC to the motor. I’d like to use white, red, and black but don’t have white shrink wrap right now. I’m really happy with this heli and how it turned out. I’ve got the micro brain so I have three styles I can choose from by toggling the “f” switch on my remote. The micro brain also comes with a bailout feature but I didn’t set that up.

Mine didn't come with connectors. XT60 a bit big for that kit. XT30 maybe.

A set of deans (t-plug) or a set of basic bullets for low current, ec2 if they make em.

I'm running 60's instead of 30's on my X140 quad just so I would not have to deal with yet another plug style. A bit big, yes, but man it's nice to be able to actually grab them lol.

I took this out for a spin yesterday and the tail blade popped off so I’ve ordered some new CNC aluminum tail blade grips and also ordered some new CNC aluminum main blade grips. I’ve got them sent priority so they should be here tomorrow.

What happened? How did they pop off?

I was spooling up and the tail blade just popped off. There is a rip in the tail blade grip. The tail belt wasn’t tight enough and I think the blade was under too much stress so I just popped off. The aluminum ones should do a good job of replacing it and I got the aluminum main blade grips for good measure.

Just remember, aluminum won't give but something else will!
