Specktrum is way better. I got the th9x due to a budget constraint. I do own a DX5e that I use on my 120sr and I love it for what it is. As far as the orange rx I dont have any idea about it binding to it.
If I had to say anything about it it would go something like this:
Pluses
Modifiable extensively through firmware updates, light mod, cost effective, fits nicely in the hands, fairly easy to set up for helis (have not done acro or glider setup yet), binds to the 6 channel flysky rx.
Cons:
Fairly cheap plastic; range (not nearly as far as a specktrum); but then again for a 450 heli it does fine; plastic does not handle humidity that well; my left gimble started getting sticky in the South Korean summer, have not been able to get the mixing to work on helis; limited model memory, unless you flash the rom; the fact that you need to flash it if you want full control of the radio; modding the radio for the port to flash it is not for the weak at heart. Switches are not very durable, had a minor drop and had to replace the gyro gain switch.
Overall If you want something to get you in the air and not break the bank then get this radio as a great interim tx or for those who like to tniker with things this could be your tx. If you have the cash for a JR, Specktrum, Futaba then go for one of those instead. I do not regret my purchase and I would not consider this an tx for anything bigger than a 500 class heli, even that could push my comfort level.
