Yup, integrated graphics are not that great. I do have a computer here (actually a few of them) that use integrated graphics. I may have to play with them soon lol.

When ever I build a tower I try and make sure it does not come with a graphics card. I try and always use a daughter board when ever possible. Audio I don't mind being integrated. I never really used a daughter board so I don't know what better is.

This one (HP) has an integrated Graphics Card and a Nvida Gforce card not sure what went wrong probably just didn't reload it soon enough, Windows tends to build up too many overheads after about two years this had been four, I like to re image them after about two, Linux well I reboot them about every 12 months whether I need to or not. LOL

Every two years? Man, there for a while I was in the habit of reloading the OS about every 6 months lol. It's been quite a while since I did it to my desktop now that I think about it. I think I know what I'm doing tomorrow lol.

Just like the BSOD ( blue screen of death ).... there is no one cause of the black varieties so when someone says they have one... you really have no idea what they are talking about specifically. IE it could be a dead video card, a bad driver or the OS is just messed up somehow.

A graphics card could also be called a daughter board.... perhaps you mean you don't use integrated graphics vs a discrete graphics card. Most systems that have integrated graphics can also have a discrete video card installed these days. Most of the mainstream Intel CPU's do have integrated graphics. In fact, many programs are now taking advantage of the Intel graphics engine even when a discrete video card is being used for the output adding additional speed to the rendering. AMD's Ryzen 3 2200G and 5 2400G with integrated graphics are actually decent for mid to low end gaming even on some of the AAA titles. While integrated graphics doesn't beat ( by any means ) what a discrete graphics card can provide, they've still come a long ways since the earlier models came out.

I meant that i hate to use integrated graphics cards. They just don't do it for me. I prefer the add on card. I refer to it as a daughter board because its not a mother board. Just making sure people understand its not an integrated card.

I think this Logitech keyboard and mouse I just purchased is going to either go back to the store or in the trash. My mouse is about 6" from the little receiver and the keyboard is 8-12 inches depending on where the transmitter is and this thing keeps losing connection. Very jumpy mouse and a keyboard that only types when it wants to. What a waste of money, even for only $35....

I'd probably trade out that KB/MC .... sounds like you have a bad trans/rec since they are both having issues.

Of course they now have some low end ( non-unifying ) receivers on some models that I've never used much and can't say if they are problematic or not.

Backlight in my alarm clock has gotten dimmer and dimmer over the years. I think this radio is coming up on almost 20 years old now. So I decided to take it apart and see how the backlight worked. Turns out to just be some little 3mm LED's, two of them, that shine inside a white enclosure to reflect the light into the back of the LCD display. Well... I don't have any 3mm LED's but I do have some 5mm LED's that are green (the color of the old ones) but are WAY brighter... So hell yea I put them in. I think I may need to put some tint on the screen now. I have a feeling it's going to light up my entire room at night lmao. I think the wife is not going to put up with this.... But she can't complain that it is too dim anymore lmao.

I don't see that solding in a pot or a resistor is harder or easier... I'd just go by which I had on hand and would lean towards the pot if I had both ( since I could adjust it )
