I just picked up a NEW WASP 280 mini FPV Quad from BlueSky RC

wasp280_01.jpg

This little quad is designed to use the Super 600tvl FPV Camera with 2.1mm Lens
They also will have the combo WASP 280 Mini FPV Quad Frame with 600tvl FPV Camera
The WASP will have enough room to place a Mobius Action Camera (Wide Lens Version) - 1080P HD
on the top or bottom

I will be using the RCX 1804 2400kv motors I got my motors from
MyRcMart.com because they had both the RCX 1804 (2400KV *R) Micro Outrunner Brushless Motor (Clockwise)
and the RCX 1804 (2400KV) Micro Outrunner Brushless Motor (Anti-Clockwise)
this will keep the props from ever spinning off or ever coming loose.

I picked up some ESC's from Ready to Fly Quads , F-12A Fire Red series SimonK-(RapidESC)
My control board will one of two I ordered also from RTF Quads the Flip MWC Flight Controller 1.5 or the Flip32 (V2.1_Rev5.)

The battery I have on the way is the ZIPPY Compact 1800mAh 3S 25C

I have a 250mw 5.8gHz VTX I will be placing on board and most likely run this one on 2.4gHz being I want fly it to far out. Use a FrSky 4ch rx Futaba compatible.

Right now the only thing stopping my build is work, maybe by next week I will time to get started..

Parts List run down:::::

WASP 280 Mini FPV Quad Frame or WASP 280 Mini FPV Quad Frame with 600tvl FPV Camera BlueSkyRC.com
RCX 1804 (2400KV) Micro Outrunner Brushless Motor clockwise and anti-clockwise MyRcMart.com
Gemfan 5030 2-Blade (Quad Pack) BlueSkyRC.com they have Yellow, White, Orange, Green and always Black
Super 600tvl FPV Camera with 2.1mm Lens BlueSkyRC.com for fast delivery or SurVeilZone cheaper but may take a few weeks to get
Flip 1.5 or Flip32 (V2.1_Rev5.) the Flip 32 is a copy of the Acro Naze32 but I can't find them in stock any where so that is why I wanted to they the Flip 32

As always you can pick up most of the items at a lot of different sights on the web, just get what works best for you.

BTW The BlueSkyRC Wasp 280 V1 on SALE 25% off, a little spoller is the V2 will have a modded camera mount that will make the Mobuis ride above the Board cam SWEET.....

You can still Put the Mobius on the bottom as in this pic

wasp280_04.jpg

Here are all my parts laid out, the arms are ABS plastic and the cam mount frame is removable... gives you easy access to the control board
Also all the hardware comes with the frame to mount the board cam and flight controller

You can get an Idea how small these little motors are, just smaller that a quarter..

02- Wasp 280.JPG

I have the Wide angle lens Mobius, so I will be adding the Mobius Action Cam - LENS SAVER by bophoto
03- Wasp 280.jpg

That looks pretty cool, I wonder how durable that plywood frame is.
be interesting to get your impressions.
I have a set of those motors, some simonk flashed 12a ESCs some 3 blade 5" props and a KK2 ready for a frame I was gonna make up.
Maybe I'll wait and see how yours goes. :)

Had a little time today and I got building on my WASP 280...

04 -Wasp 280.jpg

Got all the legs fitted to the top and bottom plate, may need to sand just a tiny bit so they will slide in the slots pretty easy
The legs want be glued in. This way you can replace them if you ever have a crash
I did glue the bottom of side piece

05 -Wasp 280.JPG

I put a little tape on the arms before paint so the ABS arms would stick better when glued

06 -Wasp 280.JPG
Time to put the canopy together

07 -Wasp 280.JPG
I test fit the sections on both plates

08 -Wasp 280.JPG
I only installed the front pieces because it will go together better, plus the last two sections can be installed from the bottom

08-- -Wasp 280.jpg

09 -Wasp 280.JPG

10 -Wasp 280.JPG
I did a quick test fit to my main frame before glue was applied I used the arms to space the two plates as if they were installed

11 -Wasp 280.JPG
Fitting up nice

12 -Wasp 280.JPG

Time for a little paint.

13 -Wasp 280.jpg

I did Orange because this little quad is small and I want something bright if it lands in high grass

14 -Wasp 280.JPG

You can see where I taped the arms on the glue tabs

15 -Wasp 280.JPG

The arms will only be glued at the motor mount tabs

Looking good time for my eletriconics

Stambo, I can't express enough how tough this little quad is. I lost video link the other day and crashed into blacktop and into a cement curb. There was only minor scratches. Picked it up and flew it right away. Wood is excellent at absorbing vibration as well. This is currently my favorite quad right now.

To save weight you don't need the FPV camera. I use my Mobius for recording and the FPV at the same time. That little guy looks cool. Good job.

Yeah I know what you are saying I have the cord to do a live feed out. I just like using the Board came because it does low light better.
That way I can fly later into the evening.

BTW
I got time to finish up my WASP 280 this weekend Hope to go do some FPV today.
I did add a Pololu 12V Step-Up Voltage Regulator inline between my FatShark 250mw 5.8gHz Vtx 5v output and my board cam.
Steps up the 5v to 12v makes for a simple hook up.
