ok...i'm having some difficulties getting the 3gx to bind to my dx8. I have the 3gx mounted on the anti rotation bracket, inline with the boom. I have the servo wires going to the 3gx with the white wires to the top. The bind plug into the lower right port.

I plugged in the battery, first, then turned on my dx8 while holding the bind button. The orange light on the sat rx was on before turning on my tx but then turned off and doesn't come back on. I turned everything off and then redid it all, the light comes back on on the sat rx but nothing binds when going through the bind process.

Any ideas?

well, I can see that I'm just going to have to set the 450 aside for the time being. not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've got other things to do today.

Bummer

currently, the satellite rx is in ANT1 port. Do you think moving it to ANT2 would make the difference?

each servo wire has the black, red, and white. Does the white go to the top or bottom of the port? I'm pretty sure that I've seen the white wires go to the top of the port but I wanted to be sure.

ok, I got the 3gx bound to my dx8. That's progress. However, I noticed that DSM2 shows up on my DX8 screen. In the Frame Rate menu, I have it set for DSMX. Any ideas why this is?

V3.1 is not capable of Dsmx only able to do Dsm2, V4 is supposed to be Dsmx but not got that far with it yet.

Ok..so, I'm a bit lost right now. "Helicopter Setup" isn't something I do everyday. That being the case, I think I've forgotten a few things. I'm looking for an "Order of Procedure". I have the 3gx bound to my DX8. I can move the sticks and the swash does move. I can raise the throttle and the head does spin. However, I thought that I had the servos centered but they are most definitely not centered now. Can someone give me a list of things to do after getting the 3gx bound to the tx?

Thanks! I have to work my usual 12 hour shift tonight and tomorrow night so I won't get to mess with the helicopter again until this weekend.

Before you start the next steps ensure no sub trim in tx and you have linear curves. (do not use any end point adjustment (travel limit) as this confuses the 3gx) its what caused my tip on the new 500 dfc

Now you are bound, hold the button in on the 3gx then connect the battery, once the lights start to cycle leave go of the button and you should be in DIR mode,

1. set servo centres and directions, level swash and set zero pitch.
2. check pitch ranges and adjust as required try to get the collective 12+- and cyclic 8+-
3. set limits and correction directions as per the manual order, by going through each step and pressing the button to move to each menu,
4. set throttle end points for governor, you have to do this even though you are not going to use a governor,
5. set tail up as per the manual or Tony's videos

You should be ready to go after the above.

I cover all of this in my videos. Everything has to be done in DIR mode. If you just let it initialize, then the gyros are taking over.

I guess I may have just been getting ahead of myself, Tony! I was just thinking that I was doing something wrong because my swash plate is no where near level and the servos are moving wrong. In your first video, I thought your swash was very level and the servo's were moving appropriately.

Well, I'm gonna have to take it apart and recenter the servo arms. I thought I had it done but apparently not.

I think I found the video that showed the same point that I needed help with. Did I understand it right that the servo directioning is all done with the 3gx? I don't need to reverse anything in the tx nor mess with the Swashplate? Maybe I misunderstood (that's a regular thing, lol)

You will use your Tx to reverse the servos and cyclic/collective movement. The 3GX doesn't have these options in it.

I was afraid you were gonna say that. I can't seem to get the cyclics to move correctly. I have the pitch going up and down correctly and smoothly but the cyclics are way off. I'll try again later. I have to take the bearing blocks out, to access the servos, and recenter them again. I thought I had it done correctly but it's not correct.

If you post a video of the movements on the swash, I can tell you exactly what you need to do. But, you need to get them moving together, even if the actual movement is reversed first. Then, you will go into the swash menu and reverse the number to get the correct movement. And I just unscrew the servos from the blocks. You can access the elevator with it still installed. Might be a good idea to get the new blocks where you can take the servos out with one easy to access bolt. Might be two. It's the block for the DFC helicopter.
