I was just gonna ask if you'd watched a video. Just like the rest of us trying to shortcut. The IKON you can switch in the TX and the gyro, however you have to have the TX right first.

I'm trying to learn the IKON so I feel your pain, Lol. Two flights with it and it seems very stable. Definitely has a different feel than the 3GX. Kind of feels like its hanging from a string, LOL

I'm looking forward to flying my 600 with the IKON. Should be awesome fun! I have the 3GX on my 450 and I'm just trying to get through the mechanical setup right now. I'll be making a video, today, to get Tony's help with the cyclic directions. It seems that I have a few things reversed and I'm not sure how to sort that out.

I can build them. I can fly them. Still working on the "setup" part, lol.

Can I use the sub trim to finely tune the servo arms to 90 degrees? I think I remember it being said to NOT use sub trim on a flybarless helicopter but I've been wrong before.

Thank you for the reply, Kev! However, I have fantastic news!!!

I was having issues getting the servos to move in the correct direction. It's quite the opposite now. All cyclic servos are now moving correctly. I had to go into the Swashplate menu and change the Elevator and Aileron from +60 to -60. That is all that needed changed. Now, all the servos are moving correctly.

On top of all that, while attempting to level the swashplate, I was able to make very small adjustments to the linkage rods and now the swashplate is level, without the need for sub trim adjustments.

Outstanding!!! I can't express how thrilled I am right now.

I am going to consider myself lucky. After taking off all the servo horns so that I could center the servo horns, again, I placed one servo horn on the Aileron servo and it looked like it sat low. I tried servo horn number 2 and it set very well in place. I placed the other two servo horns onto the other servos and they all just seemed to sit well. I put everything back together and proceeded to level the swash plate. I needed to shorten two linkage rods by 1 turn each and then lengthen the third linkage rod by one turn. All of that = level swash

Outstanding!!!

Just got done programming the YEP esc with the programming card. I didn't understand how to do it but after watching a video on Youtube, the programming was simple and completed.

Now....it's time to go over Tony's video, again, and start pressing the button on the 3GX for that programming. This 450 is so near complete.

Ok,I'm feeling better about what's going on. Ya know...all my life, I've always had an issue with comprehending what I read. I'm not a fan of "reading" but I don't always retain what I read. So...I took Tony's videos and the manual (downloaded to my laptop) and I went one step at a time, pausing the video, referring to the manual, then making adjustments on the 450. Yes, it has taken nearly 2 hours to complete the following task but the important thing is that I do believe I've completed the task I was after. I now have absolute "0" at mid stick. I have absolute +/- 10.5 degrees pitch on both blades and I have an absolute 8.2 degrees on the aileron. Outstanding!!

Now...I had to play around with the Swashplate settings to get the above. I'm assuming that I want to match up the elevator (in the Swashplate menu) to the settings of the aileron. Is that correct? I've already done it and everything looks smooth and equal, but I wanted to ask, here, so that I can be sure.

If I've done all the above correctly, I'm ready to move into the "limit" settings and the "reverse" settings on the 3GX, itself. Then I'll move into the settings on the computer programming with my new USB extension.

I think everything is coming together!!!

and here we are, just a few short hours later, lmao. My 450 Pro DFC has been rebuilt, esc programmed, has 0 pitch at mid stick and has +/- 10 degrees on the collective and +/-8 on the cyclic, blades balanced, servos centered (and recentered 3 more times, lol), gear mesh set, and well, I think everything else.

Now I just need a decent day with decent temperatures (above freezing) with little wind and no rain or snow....then I'll maiden this thing. Until then, I'm gonna put this heli back on the shelf and get back to my 600e Pro DFC. I did see in the weather forcast, we have two more days of COLD temps and then we get back into the upper 30's, near 40's. That will make me happy!

Just like many others have said..Tony, thanks for making these easy to follow videos. This 3GX seems pretty simple to do, once you have an understanding of it. I'm not saying that I understand it all but I'll continue to work with it and I'm looking forward to flying this one.

The important number is the 8º on cyclic. That way the gyro knows how much pitch is what. You can adjust more or less cyclic pitch into it via the flight mode settings.

Yeah, I kno nut'n about a 3GX, and was half asleep when I first read it.. I kno the AR7200bx calls for 6 degrees cyclic... But I think I have mine at 10..

Collective is at 13... But that's on the beastX.. Derrick u better put that 450 in the air before u shelf it bud... Uv been work'n on it a good minute.. Time to fly! U guys still have a white out tho huh?!

Hell, we have the white crap on the ground. It looks really cool too because there are thousands of quarter size hail pieces in it from yesterdays storm. Definately a storm to remember.

Why 10 & 8 degrees instead of the norm of 12 & 12?

In all honesty, this is just a starting point. I'm not Tareq Alsaadi nor am I Bert Kammerer, nor Alan Szabo. I've read that 10 and 8 can work well for starters. Also, I've read that my setup has a potential for very high head speed:

This chart is from Mr. Mel's Headspeed Calculator. I want to try 10 degrees of pitch with my Throttle Curve "high point" at 80%, instead of 100%. I'm also considering changing the motor out for a lower KV and putting on the 11 tooth pinion instead of the 12 tooth pinion that I have on it.
