Projects New RC Project that has me stressing

That's what I thought we had figured. The specs on my servos say the Input is 5-7 volts. If the Rx pack is that 6.6 volt LIFE pack that we talked about, life should be good.

I'll be going to the Post Office to pick up that package in just a few short hours from now. My 2-in-1 meter will be a fun toy to play around with this weekend. I'm gonna go look around the internet to see if there is any form of manual or directions on how to use it. I've noticed alot of stuff from HK doesn't come with such.

I was just looking at the Rx packs at Hobby King. They have Turnigy nano-tech 3000mAh 2S1P 20~40C LiFePo4 Receiver Pack (USA Warehouse) and Turnigy nano-tech 3000mAh 2S2P 20~40C Lipo Receiver Pack (USA Warehouse). Tony...I know that we talked about me getting a 2000mAh pack but this is whats available at the US warehouse. What does the "2S1P" and "2S2P" mean?

2s1p means it's a 2 cell battery with a single stack. Confused yet? lmao. Let me see if I can explain this.

2s1p is just like a normal 2s pack. Meaning there are only 2 bricks in the battery, each 3.7vDC wired in series for a total of 7.4 volts (this is for a lipo since I dont' know the LiFe numbers, but it's the same principal).

If you were to have a 2s2p, then instead of having 2 bricks to equal 7.4 volts, you would have 4 cells in there. You will have them 2x2 meaning there are 2 packs wired in parallel to give more mah, then two of those double packs are then wired in series to bring the voltage up to 7.4 volts.

2s1p = 2x1

2s2p = 2x2

The first number is the number of cells wired in series, and the second number is the number of cells wired in parallel. I hope that makes sense lmao. I have been meaning to do another video on this to help explain it, just never got around to it. Or even figured out how to explain it in a video lmao.

Ah, here you go. The first battery you posted is like a normal battery that you more than likely own. Meaning every cell is wired in series to gain more voltage. Each cell is 3000mah, so that is the capacity of the battery after wiring all cells in series. The second pack that you posted is like 2 normal 1500mah packs wired in parallel to double the mah. Maybe that makes more sense.

Yep...that explanation I understood, lol. Would one battery be more beneficial than the other? I see that the dimensions of the 2S2P is a bit smaller in length and a slight bit smaller in height....so that would be a benefit but if both have a capacity of 3000mAh, it sounds like the difference in dimensions would be the only difference.

Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is usually the right one. I say this because I'm the believer that less is more. The less parts something has, the less likely it is for something to fail on it. However I'm not sure that applies here. Since this plane is going to be STUPID heavy, I would go for the one that is the lightest with teh most capacity. In that case, it's going to be the 2s2p pack. I cna't believe it's smaller though. I would have thought it would have been fatter... Shows what I know lmao.

Yeah...it's weird.

Here are the specs for the 2S2P:
Spec.
Capacity: 3000mAh
Voltage: 2S2P / 2 Cell / 7.4V
Discharge: 20C Constant / 40C Burst
Weight: 146g (including wire, plug & case)
Dimensions: 88 x 34x 25mm
Balance Plug: JST-XH
Discharge Plug: JR & JST

and here are the specs for the 2S1P:

Spec.
Capacity: 3000mAh
Voltage: 2S1P / 2 Cell / 6.6V
Discharge: 20C Constant / 40C Burst
Weight: 167g (including wire, plug & case)
Dimensions: 132 x 44 x 15mm
Balance Plug: JST-XH
Discharge Plug: JST & Futaba

Would this 3000mAh be excessive? Would you think that I need that much? I'd have to go back through our conversations, but I think we talked about a 2000mAh Rx pack. I was just looking at the 3000mAh because it's what was available from the US warehouse.

Um, that 2s2p is a LiPo, not a LiFe according to the voltage. 6.6 is life, 7.4 is lipo. If that's the case, I would opt for the 2s1p to play it safe. If you run the other one, I would HIGHLY suggest a BEC. And we were talking about a 2000mah pack. I'm running a 2100mah pack in the 600. Check out the video of all of the parts for a size comparison. I'm sure the 3000 pack will not be much more than this one in weight. I hope lmao. I don't see an issue anyway, it's not like you dont' have the wing area to lift a couple extra grams. I think you could lift a dead body with that thing lmao.

You are right. that 2s2p is 7.4v. Good catch, Tony!

Ok...gonna go order a 6.6v LIFE Rx pack with 2000mAh....just as we talked about before, lol.

Well, I'm just thinking that if I don't NEED 3000...why get it? I have nothing else, here, that would require an Rx pack. I've never used one and to be honest with you, lol, I'm basing my purchase on your suggestions, lol. I was just talking with you about the 3000mAh packs as an example because I had never seen the 2S2P nor the 2S1P. It was just one more thing that I didn't understand, lol.

Now...lol...I am on the HK website right now, ordering my Rx pack and lipos. In all honesty....lol.....if you are using a 2100mAh pack on the 600 and since you know what motor, esc, and servos I'm using....will the 2000mAh Rx pack be enough with my Spektrum Rx??? lol

Westy, he is talking about the battery that is going on the plane, not in the tx. He is ordering the same Rx pack that I'm using in my Align 600 Nitro.

Hey Tony...while looking at Rx's for my wing, I did see a "voltage" detail on the 6 channel Rx that I plan on using for this big plane of mine. It says 3.5-9.6V. I remember that we were talking about voltage in Rx's at one time and I thought I'd share this.

I sure do hope that my batteries will get here soon. I'd really like to start seeing some "life" in this monstrosity. I'd also like to be able to take some video of this thing breathing so that I can share it with you. I've gotten so much help and guidance from you on this plane.

Yeah, you will be fine with a 2s LiFe battery straight to the Rx as long as the servos can handle it. And I would like to see thing thing come alive as well. Was wondering what had happened to ya. Glad to see you back on here.

I was wondering what happened to me, too, lol. 60 hour weeks plus another 60 hour week and any "time off" is spent with the wife. I'm so tired.

Actually, I'll give you a bit of an update. Ya know what...there's too much to type. I'll get my camera out and just make a bit of a video and I'll share that but I'll tell ya this. The nose of the fuselage has been changed and the wing placement has been changed. Both of these changes are due to a sudden fear of CG issues. You remember how big the tail section is, right? The horizontal stab is 5' wide and the vertical stab is 20" tall...it's rather large and puts a lot of weight on the tail end. I'll see what I can do to get a video uploaded as quick as possible. I know that you have some restrictions on viewing videos, so if this does become an issue, I'll sit down a bit later and type up the concerns that I had and the changes that have been made. I'd even add some pictures to go along with things.

No worries, I'm at home tonight (night off) and I can watch all the videos I want to. It's when I'm at work and using my cell phone internet on my lappy that I can't do much.

That's awesome! I hope you are relaxing, at least a lil bit. I'll go get the camera right now and get some of the plane pieces together and I'll show you what I've changed and why I changed it. I'll be back in a bit.
