Good call on the BEC. Are you going to run a dedicated lipo or just run it of your regular lipo?

A dedicated Rx pack would give slightly longer flights and they don't weigh much either. My 2200mah pack weighs like 100 grams or something - it's pretty small too.

I have a 2200 2S RX lipo lying around. But i'm going to run it of the main pack. My friend with the same set up has been running it of the internal BEC, but it says not to if the blades are longer than 425mm. He's had no probs, but i would rather not chance my pride and joy for the sake of $30.

Yeah, I would do the same. Play it safe. Afterall the 600+'s are not that cheap to crash. Well, except if you only break the skids and get very lucky lol.

I just checked. You cannot use the CC pro BEC in conjunction with RX battery.

Tony

Staff member
Why? There should be no reason you can't unless i"m missing something. Must have more info lmao.

I think it can, but only if done correctly.
note: CC beC pro should never be operated in series or parallel with another beC or backup receiver pack connected to the rx/Servo side of the circuit.
What do you think?

What they are saying is you can not use 2 BEC's in parallel or series. Running two batteries is not an issue. Just make sure to pull the positive wire out from the ESC where it plugs into the Rx. Or, if you can shut off the BEC in the ESC, you can do it that way as well. According to that note, you will be just fine running the 2s with the BEC.

Ok so i think its saying that you cannot run a BEC and a RX battery into the RX, but you can power the BEC using a RX battery.
BEC & BAT to RX NO BAT to BEC to RX YES
Correct or not?

Tony

Staff member
That is correct. I don't know why anyone would want to run a LiFe battery AND an ESC, but if they are stating this in the manual, then someone has done it lmao.

I would put the 2s in there, wire it up to the BEC for power to the servos and Rx (you can run a shut off switch with this setup!), then pull the center wire out of the ESC plug and get max flight times. Plus, more equal power to your servos and less of a chance for signal loss by bogging down the ESC's BEC.

I think you missed a bit of the thread Tony. I'm not using the internal BEC in the ESC. I have bought a separate CC Pro BEC designed for 12S flying. I think the RX battery is not needed.

What I'm saying is, you can run the external BEC off off a 2s lipo, or you can run it off your main pack if you so wish. Just make sure to unplug the red wire from the ESC going into the Rx.

Ok cool, I have my 500 set up with the smaller 10A Castle creation BEC. But for the 600 i needed the big brother 20A BEC.

better to have too much than too little. Now solder that sucker up and get out there and fly. It will handle the winds lmao.

Need to wait for the New York postman to send it :D
Oh wadaya know, just got confirmation its been dispatched. Bought it from Power Hobby on Ebay, the cheapest place i could find it.

Yeah, Power Hobby and Go Nitro Hobbies are both in New York and are the cheapest I have found for kits as well. It's where I purchased my Align 450 from. Killer deals.

DISASTER!!!!

Well it had to happen. After more than one year, i have finally put the 600 in. :(
I can take full responsibility that i dumb thumbed it. Gave too much collective in a Piro flip.
But one very strange thing happened. I actually recovered just before it hit the ground. But then suddenly after centring the sticks it flipped over in a split second and hit the deck inverted and hard????
I mean it was as if the controls were behind what was actually happening.
I'm a bit confused and can only say, I got away with things lightly.
This was buried into the ground when i went to pick it up. Tail was caked in mud, landing gear was broken off.
Once i returned home and stripped it down, the only things broken were:
Main Blades, Vertical stabiliser, Base plate and 4 teeth on the main gear. Oh and a couple of cracks in my nice canopy :(
This bird is amazingly strong. No shafts bent, nothing damaged in the tail, even though it dug a hole in the ground.
Well it may be benched for a while as i can't afford to get the blades just yet. Everything else i have here.
I am doing a thread about what to check after a crash.
