A helicopter :biggrin1:

Nothing special, just filling requests that I have received. Should have it up by the end of the weekend.

Should have went with the Align ESC, this YEP won't work on this helicopter. It will be for sale soon. Just need to get the program card in and I will sell them together. Looks like this helicopter won't get done this weekend. suck.

Just as I posted the above, I received an email that my canopy and program card are in New York. Now it just needs to pass through customs...

Went to the post exchange (PX or basically a department store) today to escort a soldier. On my way in I noticed a heli stand. I figured I would hit it up on the way back.

On the way back I did just that. I bought nothing off the table, one no money and two I would feel like I was cheating on the Protos. After looking around I noticed they were all syma brand. This does not change the fact that it is a kiosk heli.

One thing caught me off guard, sh said that she could get spair parts for all of her products.

The one I would have bought was the ch-46. It was not a true scale but it was none the less a ch-46. That was my excitement for today.

Figures. Just as I'm ready to set the pitch on the new helicopter, my batteries die in the pitch gauge. Don't have the rod for it either... UGH. It's always something...

Got it in the air and starting to get the 3GX where it's somewhat stable. Had to turn a LOT of the settings down, like WAY down lol. Maybe it will work after all. Thankfully, it's ONLY on a cheap 450. NOT the 600 lmao. Speaking of the 600, time to start working on it! w00t!

Wow I just realized that I have 3 helicopters ready to go into the air. I don't think this has ever happened before...

I have to wake up first lol. I'm only on my second cup of coffee lol. I'm setting the pitch on the new 450 now since I had to get new batteries for it. These Corona servos have a HUGE deadband. Not sure they are going to work.

What do you mean by dead band? Do they have a spot where they don't move when given input? Raining here today and forecast for the next 5 days so no flying.:pissed-off:

Yes, I can move the stick quite a bit back and forth and the servo will not move. It's just not as precise as the more expensive servos.

But, it's all down the drain anyway. None of the 3 helicopters will see air today. Where I fly, there is a swarm of wasps that have decided to make a home within my eve. And not the ones that usually leave you alone, these are the dark red ones that get pissed off just seeing you. Add noise, vibration and smoke to that mix and they go into defensive mode. I'm not risking myself or any of the helicopters for them. Wish there was an easy way to get rid of them, but I have tried the sprays, I have tried sealing off their hole, they always find another way in. After a decade of fighting them, I give up, they win.

Here is a better explination that is actually happening on the helicopter. You will set yoru pitch where you raise your stick up from low to mid stick, adn it's at 0º of pitch. Slowly move the stick up until the servo moves again, the it's showing 1.2º of pitch. That is a 1.2º dead band. I can not get anything from 0º to 1.2º to register. I think that is why the helicopter freaked out last night when I took it outside under the light. AFter thinking about it, I think the wasps did me a favor lol. Might have crashed it.

That sucks!! I did have those servos, but have put them in the box for another project where I'm not so worried about it.
Bad news about those wasps Tony!! Doesn't sound good at all....
Been a beautiful weekend here, but no time for flying since I haven't had time to do my repairs with all the getting house ready :(

I couldn't resist it. I put two of them in the air. Both had issues and had to stop the flights. One being the new one with the 929hv corona servos not centering well. Will be buying new servos for it before it goes back in the air.

Hahaha are they the digital or anologue coronas? I have some analogue ones laying around, never been mounted...
hmmm... never been put on a heli...
Good on you for giving it a shot!!

They are digital. They just have suck a LARGE deadband on them that they are unusable on a helicopter or any kind of precision flight. I have them on a flybarless with a 3GX and they SUCK. Just took it out again after playing with some settings, and yup, they still suck lmao. But the new settings in the 3GX made it feel REALLY weird.

Anyone up for an hour long video? I have one that I'm editing now lmao. Damn, I didn't think it was going to be this long... This has taken two straight nights to edit half way. Wow.
