Marius' learning to fly - "video diary"

For tic tocs you have to hit the same angle in both positive and negative positions. By doing this you should maintain your elevation.

Super Mod & DEAL KING!
You loose altitude probabl because you tink that its your collective is what makes you TIC and TOC.. well.. tht bogs your motor and that is gonna end up in a stalled bird or bogged motor or both :D ..I struggled with that forever! Till I was told.. and shown(on a SMACKTALK RC video) that.. Its all A CYCLIC GAME.. MINIMAL.. LIKE MINIMAL collective.. and cyclic is your friend. Jam your you cyclic forward and follow it with a little collective.. then yank it back all the way and then follow qith minimal collectve to barely keep it in the air. Thats the key.. I have improved extremely with those now.. Now I can TIC TOC with my 130x and not bog / stall or loose height.

ALWAYS remember Cyclic is your friend. Cyclic also adds lift. so the tighter tic toc you are doing the LESS collective you use and more cyclic! :D same with any manuever..

Servos play a huge roll in this as well for tight tick tocks. If your servos are not fast and strong, then they will not keep up. As stated, it's nothing but practice that will get you there. Well, except for the Rc-Help Prodigy names Marius lmao. :chuckles:

Really windy to day - makes great practice :D

But when coming in to land after my last pack, all the "wind fighting" had obviously drained my pack harder than usual because she was starting to sound drowsy. A bit stressed out trying to land, I managed to smack the tail into the edge of my landing pad - which resulted in a stripped tail gear.

This is my second incident with my 450, and also the second time to replace the tail gear. Luckily it's a pretty cheap part :)

ps. I've lost count on my flights - LOL

Glad you finally lost count of your flights lol. I was waiting for you to do so. I quit counting after my first flight lmao.

Out today again. Ridiculously cold, 17.6° F (-8 ° C) - and a nice freezing breeze of course.

This morning I got myself big winter coveralls at an outlet store. Worked great! But after the third pack my face was ready to fall off :D

The 450 and batteries were reacting to the cold as well. The Rx would not connect with the Tx upon plugging in the battery, it took several attempts before I got the "connection" status light. Another thing is the batteries; when cold they're not able to push as much juice as when normal - I need to "warm her up" before she performs as usual (well, she felt a tad low on the RPM's even after 4 minutes, but she was just not able to perform 100% due to the cold).

Performed first side in inverted.
Tic tocs getting better.
Training backwards flight.

No video, as the cap with camera mount have been swapped out with a winter cap.

Lets see, the sun just came up here and it's 60ºF outside. But the wind is atrocious lol.

I know you will get that big bird in the air as soon as you can. I just wish I could get the RCH heli in the air as soon as I get all of the parts so I can fly something lmao.

I know that feeling. $280 separates me from flight time on my 500. Soon... soon... :drools:

Thanks for sharing that, makes my life that much better :boxing:

With what I've learnt from the 450 in cold temperatures, the JR won't see any action before I find a day above freezing that's for sure.

+1 on that. I'm waiting for fresh cash as well - for my batteries.

Was out again today, even colder; 8.6° F (-13° C).

Same problems as yesterday. Problems getting connection RX/Tx. Either the Satellite initializes and not the Rx, or vice verca - or no initialization at all. Takes several attempts to get a connection. On my last pack (third), the motor RPM's started to bog up and down as well (without any input from me). The electronics seem not to like the cold very much.

Hey, I would prefer your weather Marius. I went to a Christmas party last night and it was 75 outside. That just doesn't feel like Christmas to me.

It's been a while since my last flight video, this due to some pretty cold temperatures. But today we had a nice balmy 37°F (3°C), so I got out the cam again :D

In this video I'm trying to show what I've been working on lately. Side in inverted, backwards flight, tic tocs, backwards loops, transitions to inverted and back - I try to "cut" some snow as well, but pussied out :D

Dayum dude, and people tell me I need to lay off the coffee lmao. You are banging those sticks like they are going out of style.

Great flying either way. Looks like you have a good handle on that bird. Maybe one of these days I can get my bird back and join you in ripping up the skys.
