Marius' learning to fly - "video diary"

Nice Marius, You are getting good at throwing it around. One tip before getting too far ahead is, try to smooth out the manoeuvres you can already do before jumping to far ahead. In most flights i spend half the pack trying to keep things smooth i.e. keeping the flips level and steady, holding the invert in one place for more than a minute etc. Then for the second half, i let rip and do what ever i want. I takes some discipline, but helps you in the long run. Keep up the good work

Thanks.

I try to train on perfection as well, but in the videos I try to perform all my new tricks :D I feel I'm very close to where I want to be "settings wise", only need to fine adjust my stick tensions a little I think (still touching the rudder when I'm not supposed too). I'm also having trouble with the tic tocs... In the sim I can do it just fine, but in real life she looses altitude when I try to do it. Practice, practice, practice!

The mistake people make with tic tocs is using too much collective and not enough cyclic. Banging the cyclic back and forth give the heli a lot of lift in the transition point, then you only need minimal collective to hold it there. Good luck

I'll keep that in mind until my next attempt. Thanks, Lee :D

I have landed my 120 sr in the Snow many times. Tomorrow we are going to have a cool front come here, the high is going to be wait for it, wait for it 71 degrees F. Man this is going to suck.

Sam, if Sandy makes it's way up there you are going to get more than "Some" white stuff. You will have about 30" of the white stuff lol. If not more. This could turn out to be the storm of the century the way it's setting up now.

So far all I'm seeing on the weather is rain all weekend. Temps not cold enough for snow. So well see! Lol rain just what I wanted to fly in! Hmmmmm.

Due to the loss of daylight as early as 4.00 PM it's not been much flying in the weekdays, so now I'm only getting some flights on the weekends - but it's all good :D I try to train on the Sim a couple of hours every week to keep the skills "warm".

Today was a nice day, a couple degrees above freezing and calm wind - perfect!

Executed my first stationary roll.
Executed my first roll in forward flight (horribly performed, but performed none the less ;) ).
My first funnel, tail down CCW (a million miles of altitude, but I was very satisfied with my performance :D ).

No video, but will try to get some next weekend if the weather's acceptable.

On another note; I'm now using fingerless gloves combined with the radio glove and heater. Also, I found some neat "hand warmer packs" at the hardware store. You just rip off the outer plastic and shake the pack for 15 seconds and it's very warm after 10 minutes or so, and it lasts 8 hours! So now I warm up my finger with the heat pack before sticking my hand in the radio glove - works like a charm, no cold fingers/hands anymore :D

Good deal, and congrats on the new moves. I still can't do a funnel. Not sure why, I just can't do them lmao.

hell I cant do all the cool stuff. Even in sim I cant do this stuff. My pyro flips are shear chaos and my tic tocs are more like shooting stars as my heli falls to the ground.

Thanks Tony :D

I'm a long, looooooong way from performing piros. LOL
I'm also struggling with the tic tics, same problem as you Matthias - bird looses altitude like crazy.

But as with everything, practice is key ;D
