Ok, who wants' to buy a slightly crashed, for the second time, heli??

This time she went up fine, then started a very small drift forward. As I tried to keep it in a hover, she pitched up violently rolled right and I aborted once again. I thought I was going to be sliced and diced.. I don't know about this FBL stuff. It seems to have a mind of its own and that scares the ____t out of me.
There's more damage this time so I got to make a list and decide if it's worth it.

Ouch. That stinks! Walk away...gather your thoughts and part list and when your ready...give it the college try again. Good luck and keep us posted.

If you're willing to get it to me I will set it up, fly it and send it back. I know it's not really an option but throwing it out there. Let us know the damage report...

Indeed I have a good crew. Yes, an offer like no other. Thanks but I love the build part and I want to figure out (with your guys help) what the control problem is. That is, now that I've had time to mellow out. :nevreness: I have the Beast set to normal control style (purple LED). There are no other Expos in the radio. I believe the two times I flew it, there were expo setting in the radio. With just the purple setting, it's way to crack stick for me.
Ok, on to the parts list.
Mian Blades:
Tail Boom:
Swash Plate:
One Way Bearing Shaft:
Main Gear Case/ One Way Bearing:
Now on to the servos, I know you guys what to know what happened to the servos.
The tail servo is fine.
Two of the cyclic servos work fine but have a very small notchiness to them. But only when powered off and moved by hand. I inspected the gears with a magnifying loupe and the gears are not striped. So I cleaned and lubed and reassembled them. Do you guys think they'll be ok?
Well it figures, I had to lose one expensive servo. :sorrow: If you look close, you'll see the orange wire broke off from the shafts position sensor. When it did, it shorted on the PCB somewhere, and it's fate was sealed. I did resolder it and test it, but it's a goner.. :sorrow:
Oh, I almost forgot, the training gear shattered. :chuckles:

Glad to hear that. As for the servo, becareful on the notchiness. Could be sign of them going. The gears might look fine but a hairline crack on one tooth can be dangerous.

Aren't there replacement gears available? I know I saw them somewhere. If I can find them, I'd rather replace all of them just to be on the safe side..
Any thoughts on the expo settings. Can I use the purple setting on the beast with expos in the radio too?

Yes, the gears are available. Are yours the DS530 servo? HSP53002 part#. As mentioned before. I would not add any expo or reduced rates in any preset control style. All sub trim OFF. Just set it to "transmitter" then you can add expo and reduce the rates.

And there they are... Awesome! Order up!
About the expo, that's what I thought, I needed to run it by you guys again to make sure. Ok, so I going to reset the beast to (BLUE) TX mode.. Then add the expo in the radio.:nevreness:
Thanks guys and I'll keep you in the loop.........................

Just me, but I wouldn't take a brand-new servo apart just for an aluminum top. Just my 2 cents....
Ok that's one vote no...
Sounds good!
One more little thing.
Is it ok to buy a servo with a plastic top case and then switch it with with the original metal top case? Or would that be unethical??
Dog, what would be a good expo setting using the TX for the Trex 500XT? Just a ballpark setting should be good. Maybe close to my 450?

I agree, and I would go far enough to say purchase a new one...two...three if you can.

I have mine expo as linear: "Straight line/no expo" but that just me.
